Zubeen Garg (born Zubeen Borthakur) is an Indian singer, music director, composer, lyricist, music producer, actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, poet and philanthropist from Jorhat, Assam.
His contributions to Assamese music and cinema have made him one of the most popular and influential cultural icons of Northeast India. Known for his versatility, Zubeen has sung in multiple languages including Assamese, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bodo, Karbi, Nepali, Bishnupriya Manipuri, and English.
His Bollywood breakthrough came with the song "Ya Ali" from the movie Gangster (2006), which became a nationwide sensation. In Assamese cinema, he has not only sung countless memorable songs but has also acted in and produced several films.
